Mint Books connects to the AI assistant you already use. Ask a question in plain English and get an answer from your real figures. It can only read. It cannot change, send or delete anything.
- Press Add to Claude. Claude opens with Mint Books filled in.
- Sign in to Mint Books and press Allow.
- Ask your first question.

Every answer uses the same calculation as the matching Mint Books page, so the numbers are the ones you would see there.

Claude connects in one tap. ChatGPT takes a few more steps for now, and we are working on making it one tap too.
Claude
On a phone, Claude asks you to sign in on its website once, even if the Claude app is signed in. It's quicker on a computer. After that, Mint Books is in your Claude app too.
- Claude opens with the name Mint Books filled in. Press Continue.
- Sign in to Mint Books and press Allow.
- In a chat, press + at the bottom left, choose Connectors and switch Mint Books on.
Works on every Claude plan. A free Claude account can add one connector like this. On Claude Team or Enterprise, the owner adds Mint Books for the team first.
ChatGPT
Needs a paid ChatGPT plan, on the ChatGPT website rather than the phone app.
- Open Settings, then Security and login, and turn on Developer mode.
- Go to Plugins and press +. Name it Mint Books, paste this address and create it:
- Sign in to Mint Books and press Allow.
On some ChatGPT plans, developer mode is under Settings, Apps, Advanced settings instead.
It reads. It never touches.
It can read
- Your figures, for the one business you approved
- Only what your role in that business can see in Mint Books
- VAT and aged debtor answers on the Pro plan, as in the app
It cannot
- Create, send, change or delete anything
- Submit anything to HMRC
- Move money, or see your bank log in or your password
You approve every connection yourself on a Mint Books page. Mint Books never sees your conversations; it only answers the questions the assistant asks it, such as your profit for this month. Access keys are stored scrambled, last an hour and renew themselves until you disconnect. Disconnect at any time in Mint Books, under ChatGPT & Claude in the menu.
Does it cost extra?
Connecting is included with every Mint Books plan and the trial. You need your own ChatGPT or Claude account, and that account does the thinking.
Are the figures right?
They come from the same calculations as the Mint Books pages, so they match what you see there. Always check VAT figures on the VAT page before you file.
Can my accountant or staff use it?
Yes. Each person connects their own assistant and sees only what their role allows in Mint Books.
What happens if my plan ends?
Connected assistants stop answering until your plan is active again. Nothing is deleted.
How do I disconnect it?
In Mint Books, open ChatGPT & Claude in the menu and press Disconnect. It stops working straight away. You can also remove Mint Books in ChatGPT or Claude.
